Accident: 170566400 - Injured In Collision With Switch Engine, Later Dies

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on August 10, 1997, Employee #1 was driving a Hostler industrial truck in a rail yard when he crossed the tracks in front of a switch engine. He was struck by the engine and thrown from the cab. Employee #1 sustained serious head injuries, along with leg injuries that resulted in surgical amputation. Employee #1 never regained consciousness and he later died.

Accident: 732750 - Locomotive Operator Killed In Fall From Rail Car

Employee #1, a locomotive operator, and a coworker, a loader operator, were pulling empty scrap metal rail cars out of a scrap bay using a remote-controlled locomotive. The locomotive came to a stop. The loader was on the opposite side of the rail car to the driver, and when it came around, the loader operator found Employee #1 lying beside the track. He apparently slipped and fell from the rail car, striking his head. He died as a result of a fractured neck.

Accident: 200710176 - Killed In Locomotive Collision

Employee #1, a locomotive operator, was driving a train westward, pulling empty rail cars from the scrap bay area of the plant. At the same time, his coworkers were weighing incoming rail cars loaded with scrap metal bound for the plant. Employee #1's locomotive collided with the last car on the chain of incoming rail cars. His seat struck the upper portion of the loaded end car. Employee #1 was killed.

Accident: 813303 - Killed When Tractor Struck By Train In Crossing

Employee #1 was driving a large snowblower-equipped tractor to clear snow at the city's wastewater treatment plant. While crossing a highway/railroad intersection, he collided with a southbound freight train. He received multiple cuts and lacerations and was killed. The crossing was marked with a stop sign and the train had blown its whistle as it approached the crossing.

Accident: 170088009 - Killed When Struck By Falling Wall

A locomotive crane boom removing a finished concrete pipe from a kiln struck the top of a concrete wall. The wall fell on Employee #1. He was killed, suffering multiple fractures.
